Dr Hamideh Heydari Waite is a consultant psychiatrist, psychotherapist and anthropologist, and studied Human Sciences and Social Anthropology before training in medicine. After more than a decade of heading a specialist service working with people and families diagnosed as suffering with severe personality and emotional disturbance, she returned to anthropological modes of inquiry. Her current research focuses on relational, contextualised ways of thinking and working with people and families experiencing complex psycho-social adversities.
