Professor Hakam Yaseen joined University Hospital Sharjah (UHS) in March 2010, before which he held senior positions at Caen University Hospital (France), King Fahd University Hospital (University of King Faisal, Saudi Arabia), and worked in many UK prestigious hospitals including University College of London Hospital (UCLH), Aberdeen, Birmingham, and Exeter. Not only does Professor Yaseen spend his days (and long nights) providing critical care to babies as a neonatologist, he is also actively involved in teaching medical students, pediatric residents, and fellows in neonatal-perinatal medicine as a Professor of Paediatrics at the University of Sharjah. He was also associated as a lecturer at Caen University (France) and as Assistant Professor at King Faisal University. He has been published internationally with 35 papers published in international peer-reviewed journals. He was a speaker or chairperson at more than 40 international and national conferences and symposia. Professor Yaseen is also a certified Examiner with the Paediatric Royal College, UK.

Professor Hakam's practice comprises a broad spectrum of complex medical and high-risk situations among newborns, including extreme prematurity (23 weeks' gestation or above) or extremely low birth weight (500g or more) or who have severe and/or complex illnesses that require advanced level care and services. He specializes particularly in preterm birth and its complications like complex birth defects, severe prematurity, and complications around pregnancy, labor, and delivery, including chronic lung disease, poor growth, respiratory distress syndrome, heart problems, immature skin and eyes, and underdeveloped digestive and neurological systems. The NICU includes nitric oxide therapy, all modes of ventilation, cooling therapy, etc... His practice also encompasses the investigation and management of babies born at full maturity of the term who suffer from infection, congenital birth defects, care for neonatal surgery, in-utero drug exposure,e and complications from a traumatic birth. He has 2 general pediatric clinics per week examining babies and big children.
