H. Irene Su MD, MSCE

H. Irene Su, MD, is a board-certified reproductive endocrinologist. She has a special interest in treating infertility, reproductive aging and fertility preservation. Dr. Su directs the fertility and reproductive health in cancer survivors program at UC San Diego Health, which offers reproductive health services and counseling for young female survivors. She also provides fertility preservation, IVF and a range of infertility treatment options at Reproductive Partners Fertility Center—San Diego.

Dr. Su is dedicated to improving reproductive health after cancer diagnosis and treatment. There are more than 500,000 reproductive-aged women in the U.S. who have survived cancer. Cancer treatments can deplete the number of oocytes in a woman, which increases infertility risk.

Her research in reproductive epidemiology, oncofertility, breast cancer, fertility preservation and ovarian aging has been featured in numerous peer-reviewed medical journals, including Pediatric Nephrology, Cancer, Expert Review of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Minerva Ginecologica and Contraception. She serves as ad-hoc reviewer for publications such as Clinical Epidemiology, Fertility and Sterility, Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics and Journal of Adolescent and Young Adult Oncology.

Dr. Su has presented many lectures over the years on obstetrics and gynecology. Prior to joining UC San Diego Health, she was an instructor at Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Su completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility, and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine. She earned her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, New York, where she also obtained a Master of Science in clinical epidemiology (MSCE). She is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology/infertility.
