Professor Guy Goodwin FMedSci is currently a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford, Oxford, UK. He was from 1996 to 2014 WA Handley Professor of Psychiatry, University of Oxford, and was head of the department of psychiatry from 1996 to 2011. His research interests are in the treatment of bipolar disorder and the application of neuroscience in understanding the neurobiology and treatment of mood disorders. He is the lead author of the British Association for Psychopharmacology (BAP) guideline group for the treatment of Bipolar Disorder. He is a Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology and has previously held the positions of President of the British Association for Psychopharmacology (2004–2005) and President of the European College of Neuropsychopharmacology (ECNP, 2013-2016). He is a Senior Investigator on the faculty of the UK National Institute for Health Research (NIHR 2011-17). He is a Thomson-Reuters highly cited investigator (top1% in his field). He has been a Governor since 2016 and serves on the Education Committees.
