Dr. Guy A. Young is a Professor of Pediatrics at the Keck School of Medicine of USC. Following medical school, he completed his residency in pediatrics at Schneider Children's Hospital-Long Island Jewish Medical Center which is part of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric hematology/oncology at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC which is part of the George Washington University School of Medicine.
He then began his research career at the Children's Hospital of Orange County under the mentorship of Dr. Diane Nugent. There, he became interested in improving the treatment for patients with hemophilia and inhibitors and children with blood clots. He received his first independent grants there including a grant from the FDA to study a new anticoagulant in children. In addition, he became interested in thromboelastography. In 2007, he moved to the Children's Hospital Los Angeles where he is continuing to perform research in the same areas as he had started in Orange County.
