Gurpreet Singh Wander MD, DM

Dr Gurpreet S Wander is the Chief Cardiologist at Hero DMC Heart Institute and the Vice Principal of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital, Ludhiana. He was instrumental in the conception, planning, construction and initiation of Hero DMC Heart Institute, a tertiary cardiac care centre, a unit of Dayanand Medical College & Hospital. Presently, it is a 170 bedded facility having two cath labs and four operating rooms offering comprehensive heart care facilities in Invasive and Non-invasive cardiology and is one of the most popular cardiology department in north India.

He is an illustrious educationist and has published 104 research papers, 18 of them in foreign Journals of repute like; Nature Genetics, The Lancet. Has presented 86 papers in national and international conferences and has contributed fourteen chapters in cardiology books. He is chief editor of the Medicine Update & Progress in Medicine 2016 and editor of the Cardiology section of the popular API Textbook of Medicine (8th, 9th & 10th Edition). He has been co-supervisor of 34 MD/DM/PhD thesis. He has been awarded Dr. B.C Roy National Award for the year 2006 for Development of Specialties from President of India.

Dr Wander is the President of the Association of Physicians of India, a national body representing 19,000 physicians from across the country and has organized the annual conference of the API (APICON 2014) in the year 2014 at Ludhiana. He was President of Hypertension Society of India 2012-13 and is the Medical Director of Ludhiana Rotary Pacemaker Bank which has implanted 100 free pacemakers to needy patients.
