Gunturu Revathi MBBS, MD

Prof Gunturu Revathi is Associate Professor of Microbiology at the Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi. She is also a visiting faculty at the University of Nairobi and the Jomo Kenyatta University of Science and Technology. She has 25 years of professional experience having worked in the Cytology Research Center at the Maulana Azad Medical College, New Delhi, Dept. of Microbiology, the University College of Medical Sciences, New Delhi before moving to Kenya. She headed the department of laboratory medicine at the Kenyatta National Hospital for 5 years while being a faculty member of the Department of Medical Microbiology at the College of Health Sciences, Nairobi .
She is a visiting scientist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute where she was co-investigator in 3 research projects. Prof Revathi has supervised 45 post graduate dissertation projects throughout her career and published 60 papers in peer reviewed journals. She is a member of several national and international professional bodies such as ISID, ESCMID, ERS, KACP, APECSA, GARP and KMA. She is also on various National committees such as KAPTLD, Technical advisory committee for National Program for Tuberculosis and Leprosy, National committee on Infection prevention and control, Kenya National committee on Infectious and Parasitic Diseases Research Program (IPDRPC), Member of National working group for Clinical Management and Referral guidelines of Ministry of Medical services, Republic of Kenya.
