Gulchin Ergun MD

Dr. Gulchin A. Ergun, MD, is a board-certified gastroenterologist with extensive expertise in esophageal disorders, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), dysphagia, Barrett's esophagus, and advanced diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy. She serves as the David M. Underwood Distinguished Professor of Medicine in Digestive Health at Houston Methodist Hospital and is a Professor of Clinical Medicine at the Academic Institute and Weill Cornell Medical College. As Director of the Reflux Center and Digestive Disease Endoscopy, she is recognized for delivering comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals with complex upper gastrointestinal disorders.

Dr. Ergun earned her medical degree from the Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine before completing her residency in internal medicine at University Hospitals of Cleveland and fellowship training in gastroenterology at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Throughout her distinguished career, she has combined clinical excellence with academic leadership, mentoring trainees while advancing innovative approaches to the diagnosis and management of esophageal diseases and reflux disorders.

An accomplished physician-scientist, Dr. Ergun's research focuses on GERD, esophageal motility disorders, Barrett's esophagus, and emerging technologies for evaluating mucosal integrity and swallowing disorders.
