Guillermo Amescua MD

Dr. Guillermo Amescua, MD, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and internationally recognized cornea specialist at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, part of the University of Miami Health System. He serves as a Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he combines exceptional patient care with academic leadership, research, and physician education.

Dr. Amescua specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of corneal and external eye diseases, with expertise in corneal transplantation, ocular surface reconstruction, limbal stem cell deficiency, infectious keratitis, and complex anterior segment disorders. He is experienced in advanced surgical techniques, including endothelial keratoplasty, penetrating keratoplasty, and other procedures designed to restore vision and preserve ocular health.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Amescua is actively involved in translational research focused on corneal diseases, regenerative therapies, stem cell transplantation, and innovations in ocular surface reconstruction.
