Guido Frank, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in the care of children, adolescents, transitional-age youth, and young adults. He provides care through UC San Diego Health's Child and Teen Psychiatry Program and the Eating Disorders Center for Treatment and Research. Dr. Frank also serves as director of Psychiatry at Rady Children's Hospital's Medical Behavioral Unit.

His research focuses on the brain biology underlying eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, and binge-eating disorder. He leads and participates in numerous clinical trials aimed at identifying novel treatments, improving outcomes, and preventing relapse. His overarching goal is to make treatment more effective and accessible while advancing prevention strategies.

Dr. Frank completed extensive postgraduate training in the neurobiology of psychiatric disorders and is certified in cognitive behavioral and other psychotherapies. He completed his child and adolescent psychiatry fellowship at UC San Diego School of Medicine and his general psychiatry residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He earned his medical degree from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich in Germany.

A recognized expert in the field, Dr. Frank frequently serves as a consultant for local and national law firms and is an invited speaker at professional conferences. He has received numerous honors, including a NIH NIMH Mentor Recognition Award and the Eating Disorder Foundation's Greg Hueni Memorial Award for Excellence in Research.

He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the Academy for Eating Disorders, the Eating Disorders Research Society, and the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology. He is board certified in both general psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry.
