Dr. Grzegorz Pitas, MD, is a Cardiac Anesthesiologist in the Department of Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology and Critical Care Medicine at Cleveland Clinic. He is board-certified by the American Board of Anesthesiology and the Polish Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Board. His specialty interest is in protecting the brain during cardiac surgery.
Dr. Pitas majored in mathematics and physics as an undergraduate at the Marie Curie School in Gorzow, Poland. He received his medical degree from K. Marcinkowski University of Medical Sciences in Poznan, Poland. He had a rotating internship at the Szpital Miejski in Gorzow before accepting residencies in anesthesiology at the SUNY Health Science Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., and at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in Little Rock, Ark., where he was named Resident of the Year, becoming Chief Resident in the Department of Anesthesiology. He also completed a preliminary internship in surgery at UAMS.
Dr. Pitas a fellowship in cardiothoracic anesthesia. He was appointed to the Cleveland Clinic in 2003 when he became a Clinical Associate in the Department of Cardiothoracic Anesthesia. Dr. Pitas is a member of the American Society of Anesthesiology.
