His group is active in translational research through the COMPASS-Thrombosis and the ROADMAP-Thrombosis projects which aim the development of clinic-biological risk assessment models for vascular complications (i.e. cancer-associated thrombosis, failure of assisted reproductive techniques, vascular complications of pregnancy, COVID-19 worsening) and the optimization of the antithrombotic treatment.

Professor Gerotziafas also leads the translational research project COVID-19 and Thrombosis and as President of the Scientific Committee of the VAS-European Independent Foundation in Angiology/Vascular Medicine, leads The Guidance for the management of patients with vascular disease or cardiovascular risk factors and COVID-19. Professor Gerotziafas is Visiting Professor at the Loyola Faculty of Medicine (Department of Molecular Pharmacology and Therapeutics) in Chicago, the School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell (Department of Medicine, Anticoagulation and Clinical Thrombosis Services) in New York and at the Faculty of Medicine of the European University of Cyprus.
