Dr. Felzien will discuss the impact of HIV, particularly in rural communities, at the third annual Rural HIV Research and Training Conference, hosted by the Georgia Southern University (GSU) on Sept. 12 -13 at the Coastal Georgia Center in Savannah, Georgia. This year’s theme is Blazing New Trails: How to Engage Rural Communities with Fewer Resources.

Dr. Felzien has an excellent reputation as one of the finest infectious disease doctors specializing in HIV care in Georgia," O'Neal said. "DPH is optimistic that Dr. Felzien will be instrumental in our quest to expand telemedicine and offer specialty consultations in areas of the state that do not have medical specialists."

Gregory S Felzien, MD, AAHIVS received his medical degree from the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Denver, CO completed his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN, and pursued further fellowship training in Infectious Diseases at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC.

Dr. Felzien holds board certification in both Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases and is certified as an American Academy of HIV Specialist. Currently, Dr. Felzien is the Medical Advisor in the Division of Health Protection/IDI-HIV for the Georgia Department of Public Health in Atlanta.
