Gregory Canty MD

Gregory Scott Canty, MD, is the Medical Director of the Sports Medicine Center at Children’s Mercy Kansas City. He is an Associate Professor of Orthopedics and Pediatrics at the UMKC School of Medicine. His education journey includes a Medical School and Pediatrics Residency at the University of Louisville, Kentucky;  a Pediatric Emergency Medicine Fellowship at Children’s Mercy Kansas City, Missouri; and a Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Colorado.

He is a long-standing member of the AAP’s Council on Sports Medicine and Fitness and previously served on the Council’s Executive Committee.  He is also a member of AMSSM, ACSM, and PRiSM. He serves on the Sports Medicine Advisory Committee for Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA). Most importantly, he is the father of three young girls, a youth sports coach, and a huge advocate for improving the health and wellness of all youth through physical activity and sports participation.
