Dr. Botta completed his Information Systems & Biomedical Engineering degrees at Carnegie Mellon University before starting graduate work at the University of Pittsburgh. He moved to Philadelphia to pursue the combined MD/PhD track at Drexel University, completing his research and post-doc at the University of Pennsylvania in the labs of Peter Lelkes, PhD and Anil Rustgi, MD. His graduate work surrounded the molecular signals that control metastasis in Pancreatic Cancer. He then came to San Diego to complete Medicine and Oncology training at Scripps Clinic. Currently he is a member of the Scripps MD Anderson Cancer Center and Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute. His current research is aimed at translating laboratory small molecules and immunotherapy into early Clinical Trials within the field of solid organ cancer and metastases within the Errki Ruoslahti, MD/PhD laboratory.
