Grant Wood is the Senior IT Strategist for Intermountain Healthcare’s Clinical Genetics Institute. He is responsible for creating computer systems that will support healthcare providers in delivering genetics-based clinical care. His list includes building standardized, enterprise-wide family health history applications for both patients and healthcare providers that perform patient risk assessments. He is also working to implement electronic genetic test result messages that can be received from a lab and stored in the patient’s electronic health record, with the goal of building molecular decision support applications.
Grant is a member of the HL7 Clinical Genomics workgroup, and chairs the HL7 membership and finance committees. He also hosts the HL7 Ambassador program, which offers free webinars on many HL7 topics. He participates in activities with the Global Alliance for Genomics and Health, the NHGRI Global Leaders in Genomic Medicine, the IOM Roundtable on Translating Genomic-Based Research for Health and the IOM Action Collaborative, the eMerge Network, the Fed/Non-Fed family history group, and the Genetic Alliance. He also serves on the board of directors for AlphaNet, an organization that provides free disease management services to people with the genetic disorder Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency
