Dr. Gordon Matheson, MD, PhD, is a Professor in the Medical School at Stanford University. He has 30 years of experience in the field of sport and exercise medicine and chairs the International Olympic Committee Task Force on Noncommunicable Disease. Gordon founded the Clinical Journal of Sport Medicine and was recruited from Canada to build the sports and exercise medicine program at Stanford.
He is known for his leadership in complex situations and his visionary thinking applied to large problems. Gordon practices medicine, teaches courses to undergraduate students, and is active in research. He has authored nearly 200 publications. Gordon is Director of Sports Medicine, Professor of Human Biology, and Co-Director of the Human Performance Lab at Stanford.
