Giuseppe Lippi was born in Camposampiero (Padua) on October 4, 1967. He graduated in Medicine in 1986 and specialized in Clinical Biochemistry and Laboratory Medicine in 1992. He is currently a Full Professor of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Verona, and Director of the Laboratory Analysis Unit and the Inter-Company Department of Laboratory Services at the Integrated University Hospital of Verona. He has published 2,290 articles in indexed scientific journals, with an overall IF of over 9,000 and an H-index of 138.

He has participated in over 600 national and international conferences and has given 380 lectures at national and international scientific meetings. In the two-year periods 2018/19 and 2020/21, he served as Secretary of the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM), and since 2020, he has served as Coordinator of the Task Force on COVID-19 of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (IFCC) and of the COVID-19 Task Force of the Italian Society of Clinical Biochemistry and Clinical Molecular Biology (SIBioC). In 2014, he received the American Association for Clinical Chemistry (AACC) Award for extraordinary contributions to patient safety, in 2016, the AACC "Outstanding Speaker" Award, and in 2023, the EFLM "Award for Scientific Achievements in Laboratory Medicine" from the European Federation of Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine (EFLM).

He has also received grants from the European Community and the Regional Health Services. Giuseppe Lippi is Editor-in-Chief of the Annals of Translational Medicine and the Journal of Laboratory and Precision Medicine, and Associate Editor of the journals Clin Chem Lab Med, Seminars in Thrombosis and Hemostasis, and Diagnosis. His main research interests include pre-analytical variability, analytical and clinical validation of biomarkers, acute coronary syndrome diagnostics, lipoprotein metabolism and related analysis methods, frailty, diagnosis and management of hemostatic disorders, and COVID-19.
