Sergio Born in Verona on 14 October 1953, he graduated in Medicine and Surgery and specialized in Sports Medicine at the University of Milan, attending the laboratories of the CNR Center for Physiology of Muscular Work (director Prof. Paolo Cerretelli) and collaborating in research concerning muscle energy metabolism, biomechanics and functional evaluation of the athlete (Proff. Franco Saibene, Piero Mognoni and Giuseppe Miserocchi). In the first years after graduation he was a collaborator of the CNR and of the Carlo Besta Neurological Institute of Milan in research projects for the study of muscle metabolic diseases (Profs. Ferdinando Cornelio and Stefano Di Donato) and fellow of the Research Association in Neurology ( ARIN).
He has taught as an adjunct professor of Biomechanics at the Higher Institute of Physical Education of Lombardy (1991-2001) and as a lecturer in the Didactic Division of CONI (biological area). He is currently a lecturer at the Postgraduate Course in Mountain Medicine at the University of Padua, directed by prof. Corrado Angelini. The medical-sports curriculum sees him as Ordinary Member of the Italian Sports Medical Federation and between 1985 and 2000, collaborator of the Italian Fencing Federations (FIS), Winter Sports (FISI), Water Skiing (FISN), Ice Sports (FISG) and Triathlon (FITRI) both for functional evaluation and as a team doctor, participating in numerous national and international rallies and competitions.
