Biography :

Giulio (Filippo Giacomo) Tarro, born in Messina on 9-7-38 graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Naples in 1962, where he studied with Prof. F. Magrassi problems of antiviral chemotherapy. Captain of Corvette of the Italian Navy and later of Fregata. Former Professor of Virological Oncology of the University of Naples, primary emeritus of the "D. Cotugno ", was" scientific son "by Albert B. Sabin. They first studied the association of viruses with some human tumors at the University of Cincinnati, Ohio, where Giulio Tarro was a research collaborator in the virology and cancer research division of the Children's Hospital (1965-68) and then assistant professor of pediatric research at the College of Medicine (1968-69).
He is Researcher of the National Research Council (CNR) and of the National Cancer Institute (USA) in Frederick, Maryland, was a forerunner of the diagnosis and immunological therapy of tumors and coordinator of extracorporeal hyperthermia in patients with hepatitis C for the First Circle Medicine of Minneapolis. He discovered the cause of the so-called "dark evil of Naples", isolating the respiratory syncytial virus in children with bronchiolitis.
