Gisela Garcia-Alvarez, Doctor in Biochemistry by education and citizen of the world by vocation, has more than 10 years of experience in health systems research in Europe and Asia. Her interest in management led her to launch the first health and life sciences cluster in Singapore in 2010, combining it with her research and teaching activities. Her interest "for getting things to work" and other life events attracted her to Galicia where she works as Managing Director of the Galician Health Cluster (Cluster Saúde de Galicia, CSG) since the end of 2016.
The Galician Health Cluster (CSG) is a collaborative platform which comprises public and private companies of the Galician healthcare and socialcare sector. It works as a catalyst for the competitiveness of the health industry, contributing decisively to economic and social development. It acts as a reference of the health innovation projects of the region and promotes the internationalization of such innovation and the training of the companies for this process. The CSG is a direct channel of communication between regulators, providers and users and has collaborative projects with the Ministry of Industry, Health and Social Affairs.
