Dr Giovanni Luigi De Maria is a Consultant Cardiologist at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford. He has expertise in General Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology. His main subspecialty is in the management of cardiac chest pain. He provides percutaneous treatment with stenting for epicardial coronary disease and diagnosis and treatment of coronary microvascular disease. He has also an interest in the management of arterial hypertension, with the provision of new therapeutic options such as renal denervation. He qualified in Medicine with an MD in 2008 and completed General Cardiology training at Gemelli Hospital in Rome In 2014. He undertook a clinical fellowship in Interventional Cardiology at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford, along with a NIHR-BRC fellowship at the University of Oxford.
He acts as the lead of the Acute Cardiovascular sub-theme at the Oxford-BRC and he is the clinical lead of the Research Catheterization Laboratory of the Acute Multidisciplinary Imaging and Intervention Centre(AMIIC) at the University of Oxford. He teaches and trains junior doctors and acts as a supervisor for PhD students and National and International clinical fellows. He serves as a faculty member on numerous international Cardiology courses and has appeared as a speaker and live operator in several key national and international conferences and workshops.
