Giora Pillar MD, PhD

Giora Pillar, MD, PhD., is the head of the sleep clinic in the Haifa district of Clalit Medical Services (the largest HMO in Israel), as well as the head of the department of pediatrics in Carmel hospital. He is a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, Israel. He got his medical and scientific degree from the Technion, and thereafter completed a fellowship at the Sleep Medicine, Endocrinology and Circadian Rhythm Department, Brigham & Women Hospital and Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. He has the American Board of Sleep Medicine examinations certification, and has a 25-year experience in diagnosing and treating patients with sleep disorders.

Prof. Pillar teaches sleep medicine courses for various audiences for more than 20 years. He is the author of a primer on sleep medicine for practitioners. The book entitled “Sleep Disorders: Diagnosis, Management, and Treatment. A Handbook for Clinicians”, gained a huge success in the US and Europe. In addition, he is the author of over 100 papers in peer review journals, and several book chapters. He is at the editorial board of the journal of clinical sleep medicine and the American journal of respiratory and critical care medicine. He honored several awards for his work in the field of sleep.
