Gino M.m.j. Kerkhoffs MD, PhD

Dr. G.M.M.J. Kerkhoffs (1972) has been named professor of Orthopaedics, with a special focus on sports traumatology, at the University of Amsterdam's Faculty of Medicine (AMC-UvA).

Gino Kerkhoffs studies the development and evaluation of diagnostic and surgical methods for the treatment of joint diseases of the lowest extremity (of the legs) and arthroscopic procedures in particular. His work spans fundamental biological, functional anatomical and biomechanical research as well as clinical trials and the development of national and international guidelines. In the next few years, Kerkhoffs will be focusing on sports traumatology, and especially on ankle and muscle injuries and stress fractures.
