Gillian Hawker MD, MSc

Gillian Hawker is the Physician-in-Chief of the Department of Medicine at Women’s College Hospital, where she holds the F.M. Hill Chair in Academic Women’s Medicine. She is a Staff Rheumatologist at Women’s College Hospital and directs two multidisciplinary research programs: the Osteoporosis Research Program and the Canadian Osteoarthritis Research Program.

Hawker serves on several committees including: Scientific Advisory Committee of The Arthritis Society of Canada; Chair, Allied Health Professionals Training Awards Committee Grant Review Panel of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR); and Chair, Epidemiology and Healthcare Outcomes Review Panel for The Arthritis Society of Canada. In 2003, she was appointed to the Scientific Committee of the Canadian Rheumatology Association (CRA) and to the Observational Monitoring Board for the Osteoarthritis Initiative at the National Institutes of Health (NIH). In addition, she is a member of the Editorial Boards of Arthritis Care and Research and Journal of Rheumatology.
