Dr. Hillman has interest in using radiotherapy to improve the radiation effect on the tumors, protect surrounding normal tissues and control metastatic disease. She has also studied signal transduction molecular pathways, DNA repair mechanisms, hypoxia, angiogenesis, inflammatory responses, immunology mechanisms related to radiation oncology. Dr. Hillman has also developed orthotopic animal models of different types of malignancies and extensively investigated various systemic therapeutic approaches to enhance the local effect of radiotherapy and control metastatic disease.
