Dr. Gianfranco Parati was born in Crema, Italy, in 1951. He received the M.D. degree from the University of Milan, Milan, Italy., In 1977, he was a Specialist in cardiology and internal medicine. In 1991, he was a Visiting Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Health Science and Technology, and at Children's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston. He is currently a Coordinator at the Laboratory for Cardiovascular Research, Istituto Auxologico Italiano, Milano, Italy, and the University of Milano-Bicocca, Milano, Italy. He is also a Full Professor of medicine at the Department of Clinical Medicine, Prevention and Applied Biotechnology, University of Milano-Bicocca, and the Head of the Department of Cardiology, San Luca Hospital, Istituto Auxologico Italiano. His research interests include ambulatory blood pressure monitoring; cardiovascular variability and neural control; hypertension; telemedicine; congestive heart failure; sleep diseases; physiology in space and high altitude; and cardiovascular pharmacology., Prof. Parati is a member of the Editorial Board of Hypertension, the Blood Pressure Monitoring, and the American Journal of Physiology and an Executive Editor of the Journal of Hypertension.
