Dr. Gi-Hoon Nam, MD, PhD, is an Assistant Professor at Korea University College of Medicine specializing in nanobiotechnology, cancer biology, and translational biomedical research. His work focuses on the development of advanced therapeutic and diagnostic platforms at the intersection of nanotechnology, molecular medicine, and cancer research.
Dr. Nam earned his MD from Korea University College of Medicine and subsequently completed an integrated PhD in Nano-Bio-Information Technology (NBIT) at the KU-KIST Graduate School of Converging Science and Technology, Korea University, under the mentorship of Prof. In-San Kim, MD, PhD. His doctoral training provided a strong interdisciplinary foundation in nanomedicine, molecular signaling, and biomedical engineering.
Following his doctoral studies, Dr. Nam conducted postdoctoral research at the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) in the Intermembrane Signaling Laboratory. He later expanded his international research experience as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Biological Chemistry and Molecular Pharmacology at Harvard Medical School and in the Department of Cancer Biology at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, where he worked under the guidance of Prof. Thomas M. Roberts, PhD. His research during this period focused on cancer signaling pathways and translational therapeutic strategies.
In addition to his academic career, Dr. Nam served as Chief Scientific Officer at SHIFTBIO Inc. in Seoul, contributing to the advancement of biotechnology innovation and translational research initiatives. Through his combined experience in medicine, academia, and biotechnology leadership, Dr. Nam continues to pursue innovative approaches for precision medicine and next-generation therapeutics.
