Ghada El-Hajj Fuleihan, MD, MPH, is a Professor of Medicine at the American University of Beirut (AUB), Beirut, Lebanon. She served as founding Director of the Calcium Metabolism Program at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital prior to moving to AUB. She is the founding Director of the Calcium Metabolism and Osteoporosis Program, and WHO Collaborating Center for Metabolic Bone Diseases, and the Founding/Program Director of the NIH-funded Scholars in Health Research Program (NIH-FIC D43 grant scheme) at AUB. She has served as Associate Dean of Clinical Research, founding Director of the Clinical Research Institute, and of the Human Research Protection Program at the American University of Beirut (AUB).

Dr. El-Hajj Fuleihan earned a bachelor's degree and medical degree at AUB. She completed her internship/residency in internal medicine at the New England Deaconess hospital, and her fellowship at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Her research laboratory focuses on calcium-sensing and mineral metabolism. Her laboratory leads multicenter studies on osteoporosis epidemiology, and clinical trials investigating the impact of vitamin D on skeletal and non-skeletal outcomes across the lifecycle. Her work is published in over 165 manuscripts, peer-reviewed protocols, 9 invited editorials/commentaries, including 3 in the NEJM and 3 in Nature Reviews Endocrinology, 18 position papers and clinical guidelines, 27 invited reviews, and 14 book chapters in major reference textbooks.

Dr. El-Hajj Fuleihan was appointed as a member of the Endocrine Society Annual Meeting Steering Committee (2011-2014) and team lead for the bone subgroup (2014). She served on the Strategic Planning Task Force 4 in 2017-2018 and is Clinical Science Chair for Endo 2019. She was selected to chair the Endocrine Society’s Clinical Practice Guidelines on Hypercalcemia of Malignancy (September 2018), and elected to serve on the Endocrine Society Council in 2018 (the term is 2019-2022).
