Professor Gerry Hanna is the Chair for Oncology at the Northern Ireland Cancer Centre, Belfast City Hospital and holds honorary appointments at Queen’s University Belfast and the University of Melbourne, and is the past Director of Radiation Oncology at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne.

A/Prof Hanna is the chief investigator of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s “PERTAIN” study and previous co-chief Investigator of the CONCORDE study, a UK study of novel agents in combination with radiotherapy in the treatment of lung cancer. He is the Principle investigator on the ACRF-funded Radiation Therapy/Immunotherapy Program at the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre examining how best to harness the synergy between radiotherapy and immunotherapy, and in particular CAR-T cell therapy. He is the Thoracic Sub-Study lead for the SARON study and a TMG member for the UK’s HALT and CONFIRM studies. He is a member of TROG and a member of the Australian National Particle therapy working group. Previously he was a Final Fellowship examiner for both the Royal College of Radiologists, London, and the Faculty of Radiology of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. He previously was a member of the UK’s Radiotherapy Board and Chair-Elect of the UK’s SABR Consortium.
