Gerhard Rettinger MD, PhD

Professor Gerhard Rettinger, Medical Director of the University Clinic for Ear, Nose, and Throat Medicine, was recently awarded an honorary doctorate from the University of Targo Mures (Romania). For ten years, the Ulm ENT Clinic has maintained intensive relationships with the ENT Clinic in Targo Mures (“Neumarkt am Fluss Mieresch”) in Transylvania, a university town with around 150,000 inhabitants.

Rettinger has given lectures there on three visits and demonstrated modern surgical procedures. Romanian doctors and nursing staff sat in on internships in Ulm and successfully applied the knowledge they acquired here in their home country. "During my most recent visit, I was able to see for myself the tremendous progress that has been made since my first stay there ten years ago," said Professor Rettinger upon his return from Targo Mures.

The Ulm ENT Clinic wants to support this positive development in the future and continue to offer internships, possibly also an exchange of employees.
