Dr. Corzo is an Engineer in Industrial Biochemistry from the Universidad Autónoma Metropolitana Iztapalapa campus, later he completed his master's studies at the Institute of Biomedical Research belonging to UNAM, and finally finished his doctoral studies at the Oklahoma State University, USA, in 1997. He completed a post-doctoral stay at the Suntory Institute for Bioorganic Research in Osaka, Japan, where he was subsequently hired as an associate researcher for four more years. Currently, he is a full-time "B" Senior Researcher at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Bioprocesses of the Institute of Biotechnology, UNAM. It has level II in the National System of Researchers and level "D" of the PRIDE of UNAM.

Dr. Corzo has made contributions to the knowledge of the biochemistry and structure of the components of arachnid venoms and of the peptide components of the saliva of redúvids. It has more than 60 publications in magazines of international circulation (with more than 1,000 citations). He has supervised three master's theses and one doctoral thesis. For two years he has been coordinator of the Biochemistry Course in the Master's and Ph.D. Program in Biochemical Sciences of the Institute of Biotechnology. Dr. Corzo was a member of the editorial committee of Letter in Organic Chemistry magazine (2007-2010), and is currently a member of the editorial committee of the World Journal of Biological Chemistry (2008-). He has also been an ad hoc evaluator of several international journals ("peer review"), and evaluator of CONACyT projects.
