Professor Georgina Long, is Co-Medical Director of Melanoma Institute Australia (MIA), and Chair of Melanoma Medical Oncology and Translational Research at MIA, The University of Sydney and RNSH. She leads an extensive clinical trials team and laboratory, focusing on targeted therapies and immuno-oncology in melanoma. She is principal investigator on phase I/II/III international clinical trials in adjuvant and metastatic melanoma, and has designed, written and completed many critical trials (investigator-led) for the field, including immunotherapy in active brain metastases. In addition to leading this clinical research program, she developed and leads the TEAM (treat-excise-analyse-melanoma) translational platform, an essential foundation for cutting-edge work on mechanisms of drug sensitivity and resistance. GL has received many awards, including the Sir Zelman Cowen Prize in Medical Research (2016), authored >180 peer-reviewed publications since 2011 (New England Journal Medicine/Lancet/Nature/Cell), is a regular international-invited speaker and leads guideline and international scientific committees.
