Dr Georgia Mavria studied Biochemistry and Genetics at the University of Leeds and received a University Research Scholarship to conduct her postgraduate studies in the laboratory of Professor Eric Blair in mechanisms of regulation of gene expression in the CNS (1991-1995).

In 1996 she moved to the MRC National Institute of Medical Research as postdoctoral fellow and from there to the Institute of Cancer Research, London where she joined Professor Chris Marshall’s laboratory in 1999. There she initiated studies in Signal Transduction in Angiogenesis using organotypic tissue culture and in vivo approaches based on models she developed during her postdoctoral studies. She led a Signalling in Angiogenesis Team as an Independent Research Fellow.
