Georgeann McGuinness, M.D., is a Professor of Radiology, Senior Vice Chair, and Vice Chair for Education and Academic Affairs in the Department of Radiology at NYU Langone Medical Center. A past Section Chief of Thoracic Imaging at NYU, Dr. McGuinness has recently resumed that position. In addition to thoracic imaging her professional interests include faculty development and mentoring; she was recently named Director for Clinical Faculty Mentoring for the NYULMC by the Dean’s Office at NYU, and now heads the Office of Mentoring and Faculty Development at the institution. After undergraduate studies in English literature at Barnard College, Columbia University and medical training at New York Medical College, ,br/>
Dr. McGuinness completed her residency at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center. Arriving at NYU in 1990 for fellowship training in thoracic imaging she joined the NYU School of Medicine faculty member in 1991. In thoracic radiology her clinical and research interests center on interstitial lung disease, airway disease, imaging in HIV patients, and lung cancer screening. Her contributions to the literature regarding thoracic manifestations of HIV related diseases are widely recognized. She is on the review board for several medical journals, and sits on the Editorial Board of the Journal of Thoracic Imaging.
