Dr. George Heriot completed his medical and infectious diseases specialty training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne. He was awarded the Royal Australasian College of Physicians medal in 2013.
His research focuses on the management of Staphylococcus aureus bloodstream infections and infective endocarditis, and this expertise is supported by a postgraduate qualification in clinical ultrasound and echocardiography. He is involved in the design of the NHMRC-funded S. aureus Network Adaptive Platform trial.
Dr. Heriot also holds an appointment in the Department of General Medicine at the Royal Melbourne Hospital and has an interest in undifferentiated and diagnostically-challenging acute illnesses.
