Dr. G. Michael Hess, M.D. is board certified for orthopedic surgery and pain therapy. He graduated from Medical School at the University Dusseldorf in 1995, completed his residency in St. Moritz, Switzerland, and at the Spine Center at Orthopaedische Klinik Muenchen-Harlaching. After a fellowship in spine surgery and interventional radiology at the University Hospital in Quebec City, Canada, he was appointed Head of the Back Pain Center at Orthopaedische Klinik Muenchen-Harlaching in 2001. In 2003 Dr. Hess went into private practice and is consultant at Beta-Klinik, Bonn, where he is responsible for minimal-invasive spinal surgery and interventional pain therapy.

Dr. Hess is a member of many international organizations and institutions focusing on interventional and surgical treatment of the spine. From 2006 to 2015 he was president of the German Interventional Spine Society. He is a member of the German Spine Society, a member of the British Pain Society, and founding member of the World Federation of Minimal Invasive Spine Surgery and Techniques Societies. Since 2003, he has been the Master Instructor of the International Spine Intervention Society (SIS) in the United States and Europe, and a co-organizer of European SIS workshops in Amsterdam, Netherlands.
