Professor Geoff McColl is the Head of the Melbourne Medical School and Professor of Medical Education and Training. He has previously held the positions of Director of Medical Education, Deputy Dean in the Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences, and Clinical Dean of the Royal Melbourne Hospital/Western Hospital Clinical School.

His undergraduate medical training at the University of Melbourne, he undertook his internship and residency at the Austin and Repatriation General Hospitals completing his advanced training in rheumatology and attaining his FRACP in 1992. He undertook a PhD examining antigen-specific immune responses in patients with recent-onset rheumatoid arthritis at the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute, graduating in 1996. In 2008, Prof McColl was awarded a Master of Education for his research in understanding the methods used by clinician educators to improve diagnostic reasoning skills in medical students. His current research interests continue to reside in the area of teaching and assessment of diagnostic reasoning skills in medical students.
