Gayle Nyberg Higgins has been a registered nurse for 34 years. She received my BSN from Drexel University and my MSN from Temple University. She has been a pediatric nurse practitioner for 16 years with a focus on asthma and other pulmonary diseases. She has been the provider for two asthma clinics - one associated with the Section of Pulmonology and the other as part of a primary care clinic. She has spoken at local, regional, and national conferences on asthma and the care of children with asthma. She sits on the board of directors for the Allergy and Asthma Network and also does consultant work for them - at this time doing asthma training for community health workers throughout the country. She also works as a consultant for the Green and Healthy Homes Initiative in Baltimore, Maryland. During her time running the asthma clinics she had been working with the Public Health Department of Philadelphia in their Healthy Homes program and with GHHI developing local partnerships. She was on the asthma committee for the School District of Philadelphia. She currently works for a non-profit organization that runs school-based health clinics in 12 local schools in Philadelphia. She works as a PNP in one of the schools. We are partnered with the Public Health Department of Philadelphia with a new program-Room2Breathe which will offer services to children with asthma throughout the city. Caring for children with asthma and improving their and their families' lives in her life.
