Gavin Kurgan PhD

Gavin Kurgan is a Sr. Manager, Bioinformatics Applications Development at IDT. Gavin earned his PhD in Biological Design from Arizona State University in 2018, working on identifying and optimizing biocatalyst transport systems using cross-disciplinary methods. Since joining IDT in 2018, his research has focused on developing computational methods to optimize the CRISPR-Cas genome editing toolbox. This includes developing methods to better control, identify, and characterize genome editing events to drive precise DNA repair using these systems. To this end, he is the primary developer of the IDT CRISPR NGS analysis pipeline, the rhAmpSeq CRISPR Analysis Tool.
