Gavin Gorman MSc

Gavin trained as an Extended Formulary Nurse Prescriber at Southampton University while working in Hampshire Partnerships NHS Trust and has practiced as a supplementary and latterly an independent prescriber in Community Mental Health, Mental Health liaison and Psychiatric Emergency and Crisis Team settings. Gavin represents Scotland on the AFP Committee along with Andrew Rideout. Gavin is the Chair of the Scottish Government NMAHP Prescribing Leads group. The group drives the national strategy for Non-Medical Prescribing and consists of representation from each of the Scottish Health Boards. Gavin took up post as the Non Medical Prescribing Lead for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde in November 2013. Prior to this he was employed as the Lead for Non-Medical Prescribing and Medicines Governance in NHS Borders for 4 years and had also led the Non Medical Prescribing Project in NHS Borders in 2007-8. Although not currently in a clinical role having recently moved posts and health boards, he is keen to find a clinical niche and develop a nursing/prescribing role within NHS GG&C alongside his NMP Lead position.
