Gary is currently the Vice President of Provider Development with VEP Healthcare Inc., in Concord, CA. Gary is a member of the senior executive leadership team and in addition supervises operations of a large community ED, managing the growth of the enterprise from 25,000 visits to 70,000 visits per year.

Currently, Gary holds the title of Associate Clinical Professor of Emergency Medicine with the University of California, San Francisco. Gary teaches and instructs medical students and residents, and he lectures to schools and national conferences on a regular basis.

Concurrently, Gary is serving as Medical Director of the California Highway Patrol in Sacramento. Named as President of the American College of Emergency Physicians, California Chapter from 2002 to 2003, Gary was awarded the Walter T Edwards Memorial Award by the American College of Emergency Physicians, the highest award by state chapter for meritorious service.

Gary graduated from the Irvine College of Medicine, the University of California with an MD (with honors) in 1992, he received his BA in Community Health (with honors) from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island in 1986. He holds a California Medical License, and he has completed a number of courses including EMS Medical Directors Course, National Association of EMS Physician; International School of Tactical Medicine; and Medical Director Academy, American College of Emergency Physicians (2005).
