Garima Sharma M.D is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology and Department of Medicine at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

Her clinical and research interests are in cardiovascular disease in pregnancy specifically adverse pregnancy outcomes and CV risks, post-partum prevention of complications from hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and gender equity. She manages high-risk cardiovascular problems in pregnancy such as valvular heart disease, coronary and aortic dissections, valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease. She also sees patients in her post-partum cardiovascular clinic for cardiovascular health assessment, future pregnancy counseling, and routine cardiovascular care.

She is co-author on the American Heart Association Scientific Statement on Cardiovascular Consideration in Caring for Pregnant Patients. She has written several articles on, gender equity in cardiology, mentoring and career development for FITs and ECs in the Journal of American College of Cardiology (JACC) for which is also is the Section Editor. Dr. Sharma has led several national initiatives for professional development of fellows in training and is the incoming Governor Elect for the Maryland Chapter of the American College of Cardiology, her official term starting in March 2021.
