Garett Smith is a leading upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgeon. He has an interest in the application of advanced laparoscopic techniques to upper gastrointestinal surgery, bariatric surgery, hernia surgery and general surgery. He is Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Sydney. Garett trained in upper gastrointestinal surgery in Australasia, the United Kingdom and the United States.
He is director of the upper gastrointestinal and bariatric surgical fellowship program at Royal North Shore Hospital. He is a past president of the Sydney Upper Gastrointestinal Surgical Society and a member of the founding executive of the ANZ Oesophagogastric Surgeons Association. He is a member of national and international bariatric and upper GI surgical societies. Garett will convene the 2018 bariatric surgical program at the RACS annual scientific congress in Sydney.
