Gail K. Adler, M.D., Ph.D., F.A.H.A. is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School and Associate Clinical Research Center Director of the Harvard Catalyst Clinical Research Center at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. Her research focuses on hormonal mechanisms of cardiovascular disease in obesity, diabetes, and hypertension with an emphasis on the roles of adrenal steroids. Through patient-oriented and basic studies, she has demonstrated an important role for aldosterone and mineralocorticoid receptor activation in the pathophysiology of vascular injury of intramural coronary arteries, renal arteriopathy and proteinuria, and obesity-associated adipose tissue inflammation and adipokine dysregulation.
