Fritz H. Schroder MD, PhD

Fritz H. Schroder is a Professor of Urology in the Department of Urology at the Erasmus MC. Schroder studied Medicine in Hamburg, Marburg, and at the University of Saarbrücken. He completed his Urological training in Homburg/Saar and at the University of California in Los Angeles in 1971. From 1969 to 1970 he did a research fellowship at the Department of Biology, University of California, San Diego. His Ph.D. thesis (Habilitation) was completed in 1972 and was entitled “Endocrinological and morphological studies of prostatic tumors in vitro”. From 1972 to 1976 Schröder was an Associate Professor of Urology at the University of Würzburg. From 1977 to 2002 he chaired the Department of Urology at Erasmus University and Academic Hospital Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Professor Schröder initiated the European Randomized study of Screening for Prostate Cancer and functioned as its international coordinator from 1994- 2012. In 2012 he was allotted membership in the American Academy of Sciences.
