Friedhelm Beyersdorf MD

Friedhelm Beyersdorf is a Professor of Surgery and Chairman of the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at the Heart Center Freiburg University since 1994. He has performed the first combined heart-lung transplantation in the county of Baden-Wuerttemberg in Germany and has started a large heart transplant program (including pediatric transplantation) and mechanical assist program (including total artificial heart implantation). He is the Editor-in-Chief of the EJCTS and ICVTS since 2010. He served as the President of the German Society for Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery from 2009 to 2011
