Frederik Verbrugge MD, PhD

Dr. Frederik Hendrik Verbrugge, MD, Ph.D. is a Clinical Professor at the Free University of Brussels. Prof. Dr. Verbrugge graduated with an M.D. in 2010 (KU Leuven, Leuven, Belgium) and obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2015 (Hasselt University, Hasselt, Belgium). prof. Dr. Verbrugge has a research affiliation with the Department of Cardiovascular Diseases of the Mayo Clinic (Rochester, MN, USA).

Prof. Dr. Verbrugge has published over 110 Pubmed-cited articles in the field of cardiology and heart failure. He authored a book chapter in "Heart Failure: A companion to Braunwald’s heart disease" (3rd edition, Elsevier, 2015) and has edited the book "Cardiorenal Syndrome in Heart Failure" (Springer Nature Switzerland AG, 2019). He currently serves as Deputy Editor for the European Heart Journal: Acute Cardiovascular Care is an Editorial Consultant to the JACC: Heart Failure Editorial Board, and is a member of the Heart Failure Association (HFA) study group on cardio-renal dysfunction.

Prof. Dr. Verbrugge is an active member of the HFA and the Acute Cardiovascular Care Association (ACVC) of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He is an alumnus of the HFA Clinical Trialists Summer School, the 3rd HFA/ESC Heart Academy/Zürich University Postgraduate Course in Heart Failure, the Research Foundation Flanders (F.W.O.), and the Belgian American Educational Foundation. Currently, he is undertaking an M.Sc. in Clinical Trials at Oxford University (Oxford, UK).
