Dr. Frederick Gerard Moeller, MD, is a distinguished professor and leader at Virginia Commonwealth University. He serves as Division Chair of Addictions in the Department of Psychiatry within the VCU School of Medicine, where he oversees clinical care, training, and research in substance use disorders. Dr. Moeller also holds faculty appointments in the Departments of Pharmacology and Toxicology and Neurology.

In addition to his academic roles, Dr. Moeller is the Director of the VCU Institute for Drug and Alcohol Studies and the Director of the VCU C. Kenneth and Dianne Wright Center for Clinical and Translational Research, where he leads interdisciplinary efforts to advance clinical science and translation of research into patient-centered care. He is also Associate Vice President for Clinical Research at VCU and serves as Deputy Institutional Official, contributing to the oversight and strategic direction of clinical research across the university. Dr. Moeller’s work is internationally recognized in the field of addiction medicine and translational neuroscience, with a long record of NIH-funded research focused on the neurobiology and treatment of substance use disorders.
