Frank Peeters has been a member of the VAPI-UPIP board for more than 10 years and took up the position of president of the association in 2015. He studied pharmacy (1978-1983), graduated as an industrial pharmacist, and obtained a Ph.D. in pharmacology at the University of Antwerp. From 1989 to 1996 he performed research at UCB and obtained a master's degree in Drug Design at the University of Lille, France.

In 1997 he moved to the HIV-laboratory Tibotec-Virco, where he held positions of Laboratory Director and ICT & Software Quality Director. His team developed an international LIMS system, for which he was elected the first nominee of the Belgian ‘ICT Manager Contest 2001’.

In 2002, he started his own consultancy company ‘Tobeas bvba’, which specialized in GMP, GDP, and medical device quality systems with a special interest in computerized systems and pharmaceutical distribution. He is hereby active as GMP Qualified Person and GDP Responsible Person. In this context, Tobias has developed techniques and software for temperature mapping and risk assessment in warehousing and transportation. He is LtKol in the Belgian Reserve where he supports the medical component in their pharmaceutical activities, both in Belgium and in operations abroad. Since 2010 he is appointed visiting professor at KU Leuven, lecturing courses on Biotechnology and Recent Developments in Science and Technology.
